Does October have you thinking about Thanksgiving and Halloween? What’s top of mind for us this month are all things pink. October as you probably know, is breast cancer awareness month. Pick up a pink breast cancer awareness product or two this month, and take part in an event, such as running in fundraiser – volunteer or do a charity run (check here for a few words of advice if you’re new to running), attending Boobyball if you’re in Toronto or Calgary, or pledging a friend who is fundraising (perhaps they just ran CIBC Run for the Cure this past weekend – it’s not too late to pledge them!) to help fund essential research. Lipstick Powder N Paint and several media peeps have teamed up with Rethink Breast Cancer to show our support for the fight against a truly horrible disease, Breast Cancer. (Nearly 1,000 Canadian young women under 40 will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. This information is so very scary, and it makes us teary-eyed to learn this. We feel blessed because we haven’t had breast cancer, and do not have any friends or family that have had breast cancer.)
Our challenge was to create a nail look using the limited-edition OPI Pink of Hearts 2012 Polish Duo ($20.95) and beat out our competition, Daniella Etienne of TheBrokenHeelDiaries.com who was also asked to paint her nails.
Here’s where it gets good, people…YOU vote for who you think ‘Styled It Best,’ and for every single vote, Penguin Books Canada has pledged to donate $1 to Rethink Breast Cancer. And you can vote AS. MANY. TIMES. AS. YOU. LIKE. Voting ends on October 15th.
So come on, lovelies, help us raise money for Rethink Breast Cancer! Click here to vote.

Do you find you tend to put on weight in the fall season? There’s no good reason you should go into hibernation mode like a bear, but we can see how the rich and delicious autumn fare is tempting, and the fact that we no longer need to bare all in a bikini but rather can just get all cozy in layers of sweaters can certainly make hitting the gym to stay tone somewhat less urgent. Not to mention the fact that with school starting up and new routines in full swing, well, our health regimens often fall apart at the seams a bit in the fall. Here are some expert tips on how to stay on track. (more…)
