LPNP Stays at the Rosewood London Hotel

Located in up-and-coming area of Holborn, and just a stone’s throw from Covent Garden, the Rosewood London takes center stage on High Holborn street. Originally the headquarters for the Pearl Assurance Company until the late ’80s, then the Chancery Court Hotel from 2000 – 2011, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts $130 million transformation of the 1914 Edwardian Belle Époque building. (Interesting fact: this beauty of a property was featured in the Oscar-winning ’90s movie, Howards End.)The Rosewood London is the epitome of what we feel a luxury British hotel should be: historic in structure, contemporary sophistication on the inside – with a touch of Downton Abbey on the side for good measure. And don’t forget the first-class customer service. This 5-star luxury property does not disappoint in the slightest.

Rosewood LondonAs you enter through a grand carriageway which leads to a courtyard with stonework reminiscent of an Italian Renaissance palazzo, you get the sense that you’ve arrived at the Earl of so-and-so’s posh manor house, rather than a hotel in the heart of the city. This grande dame was lovingly restored by an expert team of craftsmen, including the magnificent Grade II-listed street frontage and dome, and the grand Pavonazzo marble staircase which rises up through all seven storeys of the hotel beneath the stunning 166-foot cupola. Award-winning Tony Chi and Associates were commissioned to reimagine the accommodations, event spaces and public areas. Drawing on nature and culture, mind and matter, appearance and reality, the New York-based design team strive to make their design momentarily and permanently relevant.

The 262 guestrooms and 44 suites are aesthetically exceptional, drawing you in with luxurious materials, fine Italian bedding, and cool colors that convey the feel of a dapper London pad. The bathrooms are probably the finest in the country, featuring the finest Italian marble, hand-beaten Peruvian alpaca silver finishes, and luxury toiletries from Czech & Speake of Jermyn Street. The hotel’s public areas are filled with beautiful artwork and a plethora of books to flip through as you relax and soak in the Rosewood atmosphere and decor, and the popular event spaces nod to the building’s past as the headquarters of Pearl Assurance Company.
