In May 2011, I was one of the lucky peeps invited to join Target in Chicago for their press conference, announcing to Canada that they would indeed be coming to Canada in 2013. I am a huge “Tar-jay” fan and was so excited, but also wasn’t sure if I could wait TWO WHOLE YEARS to shop on this side of the border.
The smart folk at Target knew we needed a little taste to keep us going and set up the Jason Wu for Target pop-up shop in Toronto early last year. I shopped my little heart out that day, I can tell you!
Well, Lipstick Powder N Paint readers, I am thrilled to tell you that the wait is over. Yes, Target is in Western Canada!
“Target is thrilled to be opening stores in Western Canada, providing a one-stop shopping destination that meets the wants and needs of our guests,” said Tony Fisher, president, Target Canada. “It was exciting to see the response to our Ontario store openings, which have produced valuable insights that along with our soft openings in Western Canada will help us to continue to deliver on Target’s Expect More. Pay Less. brand promise for guests across Canada.”
Ontario may have already been shopping for the past couple of weeks, but we have our own stores now. And I cannot wait to zoom over to my closest one (I think it’s Coquitlam for now, until Metrotown opens later this year) and check it out. I can hear it calling my name.
In case you aren’t sure where the new locations are, here is the list of stores that opened today, and the ones opening later this month. You’re welcome.
