Determined to introduce lipstick to a generation of gloss-and-go girls, Chanel launched Rouge Coco Hydrating Crème Lip Colour ($38 / US $30), a new hydrating and long-lasting lipstick collection. Peter Philips, Chanel’s global creative director for makeup, told WWD that women seem to have forgotten how to apply lipstick, and his inspiration was to make lipstick as easy to apply as lip gloss, long-lasting and comfortable on the lips.
The extensive collection, 30 colours in all, is broken down into four shade families: neutral-browns, violet-berries, red-corals, and rose-pinks and are named after an aspect of the great Coco Chanel’s life, from legendary sites to favourite pieces of jewellery, their names recount her life story. Among others, there’s Mademoiselle, a soft pink; Camelia, a deep rose, and Paris, a bright red and will feature French actress Vanessa Paradis as the face of Rouge Coco.
Available at Holt Renfrew in Canada and Saks Fifth Avenue in the USA.
