Feeling Balmy

MAC Tendertone Lip BalmSometimes when picking a lip colour we’ll gravitate towards a sultry, siren red in a slick, creamy lipstick bullet. But, eventually we back down and default to some sort of sheer rosy gloss, for fear our lips will crack upon contact with the lipstick and that we’ll never be able to rock that shade of red in the first place.

We’ve found an interesting compromise in M.A.C’s Tendertone Lipbalm in Sweet & Nice. It looks surprisingly harmless and gloss-like in its teensy glass jar, but the sheer grapey-red looks so grown-up we can’t help but be reeled in. To date we’ve yet to have a complaint in the flaking department, it has SPF 12, and the wide range of colours all seem very flattering.

Looks like our standby lip balm will have to look for another home, because this one’s moving up the ranks.

Cristophe Beverly Hills Purely NaturalThe genius celebrity hairstylist, behind the mane of Catherine Deneuve, has expanded his mass line hair products to include the organic fare, aptly named Cristophe Beverly Hills Purely Natural.

For less than eight dollars a pop and available on nearly every street corner, these products add to the already popular Cristophe line. Don’t be fooled by the low prices and accessibility; these products are akin to their salon counterpart. All products in the three-piece line are laced with natural ingredients like vitamin C and keratin A to keep hair healthy and shiny.

The shampoo and conditioner - which have a deliciously soft orange and vanilla scent - left our hair feeling soft with lots of swing (without drying it out).

Eco-bonus: products aren’t tested on animals and are free of sulfates, dyes, parabens and fragrance.

For the love of smooth

EOSTargeted towards modernistas, eos is the hippest shaving cream for women we’ve seen in a while. The ergonomic bottle design is made of soft-touch plastic that looks super stylish and feels great in your hand. Past fears of leaving your shaving cream in the shower are now gone. This all-plastic container won’t mark-the-spot with a dreaded rust ring. And when you’re done with it, feel free to drop it into your recycling bin.

eos isn’t like most shaving creams on the market. You won’t find soapy foam being dispensed but rather a true cream with natural aloe, oat, shea butter and antioxidant-rich vitamins C and E that leave your skin looking healthy and feeling smooth. And you can use this super cream wet or dry. Available in three fragrances: island blue (sea, surf and smooth), vanilla bliss (crème de la smooth), pomegranate raspberry (a smooth fruit blend).
