When the MAC Fafi Collection was first launched I was not sure what or who a Fafi was! I now know better. Born and raised in Toulouse France, Fafi’s strong presence in the graffiti and fine arts scene was first witnessed on her hometown walls in 1994. She drew enormous attention and thus started to travel the world with thousands of ‘Fafinettes’ in her brushes and paint cans.
MAC worked exclusively with the Paris-based artist to create three distinct ‘Fafinette’ characters: Monoka, Ermine, and Eriko that embody the signature depictions of sexy, liberated girls that have earned Fafi a devout following in the street art world. When Jennifer Balbier, SVP Product Development for MAC Worldwide, was asked what the ultimate Fafinette face was, she responded: “The look is toned-down skin with heavier emphasis on eyes and a girly mouth. She’s colourful, but the texture is light.”
The Fafi collection is a hip spring colour collection filled with bold, empowering hues, unapologetically girly lip shades of pearly pinks and tangerine reds, iridescent powder, brown, blue and green Paint Pots and Quads, and whimsical cosmetic accessories.

SEPHORA. Ah, how that name makes my heart race, I become breathless and my eyes glaze over in pure happiness. I first discovered Sephora when I was on a business trip in Las Vegas and stumbled upon the heavenly Venetian Hotel location. That was almost 10 years ago, and since then I try and visit a store once every couple of weeks. Now in addition to their stores and beauty products there will be Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin and Hair from the Beauty Authority, hitting shelves in a couple of weeks.
Former Sephora beauty editor and current fashion and beauty journalist Melissa Schweiger has written this amazing guide that will make you feel like your have your own personal team of beauty experts, advising you on how to look and feel knockout-gorgeous every day. Each chapter shares the finest beauty tips, tricks and secrets; to quotes and advice from the movers and shakers of the industry.
I have read this book cover to cover about three times now and I think my favourite chapters are: Faking It, which recommends products and techniques to enhance our strengths and downplay those weaknesses; Secret Ingredients, that shares information on those new fancy ingredients in our beauty products, like Acai, Goji Berry and Neuropeptides; and The Future of Beauty where experts such as Maureen Kelly, Oscar Blandi, Dr. Howard Murad and Dean Factor, share their predictions for the future of health and beauty.
I definitely recommend you pick up a copy of this guide and add it to your daily beauty routine.

I unfortunately did not make it to the 3rd day of fashion week – but have no fear, I still have the under-the-tent scoop for you.
THE RUNWAY
Vancouver designer and Project Runway Canada finalist Carlie Wong, infused some nighttime glam into her afternoon runway show.
Serbian-born designer Slavka Plavsic, revealed an elegant fall collection full of colour, inspired by a 1870s postcard with a portrait of a lady.
Montreal designer Andy The-Anh unveiled his Fall 2008 Collection of richly hued pieces. Teal, chocolate brown and midnight blue graced the Toronto runway.

THE LOOK
Carlie Wong’s models strutted the catwalk with Amy Winehouse-esq eyes, and lips were equally striking in a deep cherry colour. Not my typical evening look but it works for the runway.
Slavka Plavsic’s focus was totally on the clothes and kept makeup to the bare minimum. I am loving the braiding.
I understand from chatting with Eddie Maleterre that the look for the Andy The-Anh show changed at the last minute. I am not sure what the original look was to be, but I think the bold peacock blue and black on the eyes worked for the show.
