Bésame Enriched Lip Glaze

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Bésame recently added a new product to their timeless cosmetic line - The Enriched Lip Glaze.

This sweet smelling, creamy gloss is enriched with vitamins A, C, E and green tea extract to keep lips kissably soft for hours. Other ingredients contained in this luxurious glaze are, anti-aging marine collagen to promote lip shape and fullness, aloe vera, macadamia nut extract, sweet almond oil and squalene.

What is squalene? I didn’t know so I did a little research…

Squalene has several beneficial qualities for the body. One such benefit is that it assists in keeping skin moisturized and healthy and its anti-oxidant capabilities help to protect skin from the harsh effects of the environment. It is widely found in natural products such as - olives, palm oil and wheat germ oil. However, the largest concentration of Squalene is from deep sea Shark liver oil. Who knew?!

The Enriched Lip Glaze is available in 6 pretty colours that can be worn alone or over your favourite lipstick.

Bésame cosmetics can be found in several boutiques around the USA. For a full listing visit www.besamecosmetics.com

AVEDA Spring/Summer 2007

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

I know that it is still winter and we have not even got to Christmas, but I wanted to share with you the Aveda Spring/Summer cosmetic collection that will be coming out in February.

Aveda have developed three spring colour palettes that capture the beauty trends from New York’s Fashion Week.

ZEN BLOOMS
With citrus green for eyes, sugary pinks for cheeks and lips, Zen Blooms look is “fresh and flirty”.

- Sundew/Watercress Triple Accent*—a soft, satin rose for lips and cheeks paired with a fresh, citrus lime for eyes.
- Jamberry Lip Glaze*—a sweet glaze of pastel berries.
- Plum Fresco Petal Essence Face Accent—shimmering fuchsia lit with gold.
- Moonstone Shimmer Accent—a liquid shimmer of pearlized pink.

SPANISH SUN
This palette offers a tango of fiery bronzes.

- Coco Plum Lip Tint SPF 15*—a spicy hint of chocolate raspberry.
- Tangelo/Pantana Petal Essence Eye Color Duo*—a seductive duet of tropical salmon and rich cocoa.
- Moss Eye Definer—a deep, exotic, moss green.
- Papaye Lip Glaze*—a glaze of melted, golden copper.
- Bronze Patina Cheek Tint—a sun-drenched bronze glow.

MOROCCAN MIST
Sheer watercolors of a Moroccan dawn. Moroccan Mist is about delicate colours that are a little bit mysterious.

- Waterlily/Seagrape Petal Essence Eye Color Duo*—sheer champagne pink paired with a hazy violet.
- Juneberry Lip Shine*—a delicate silk of pink mocha.
- Rose Swirl Lip Tint—desert gold swirled with mysterious plum-berry.
- Terrastone Shimmer Accent—a deep, bronzed glow.

* new shade

This collection as mentioned is to work hand in hand with the spring fashions. Have fun with the colours and make a statement.

Spa Chocolate

Friday, December 15th, 2006

If you like chocolate, and I mean really like it, then do I have the product for you.

Not Soap, Radio’s Spa Chocolate is a luscious pampering, three pack that contains an exfoliating sugared body polish, an ultra-whipped cocoa butter body soufflé and a purifying face mask all made with real cocoa, a dash of vanilla and a hint of nutmeg. Yummy.

Sugared body polish – Premium cocoa butter nourishes as brown sugar crystals and pure ground cocoa beans buff away dead skin, revealing soft, radiant, delectable skin.

Whipped body soufflé - Add incredibly emollient cocoa butter, shea and nutrient-rich fruit oils to sweet cocoa and viola – the ultimate all-over moisturizer.

Purifying Face Mask – Kaolin, the gentlest of clays, pulls dirt and toxins from skin, while the caffeine in cocoa firms, tightens. Use 1-2 times per week to restore skin’s natural vitality. For any and all skin types.

I have tried this kit and I was amazed how wonderful everything smelled. I slathered myself in the body soufflé one night and drifted off into a delicious sleep. The scrub was fantastic and smoothing some rough skin off my thighs and left them smooth and soft. My husband loved the face mask and asked if he could eat it. It almost felt like I was rubbing really milk chocolate on my face!

At $22.00 this would make a great gift for someone.

A Little Christmas Cake is always Good

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

Recently I was in my favorite book store “Chapters” and was surprised to see several Cake products there. Now in case you are not aware of “Cake”, I am not talking about baked goods (though I do love a nice slice of cake), but a Canadian company that is taking North America by storm. They carry a sweet selection of bath and body products that are so unique, that they will definitely catch your eye.

It seems that the Indigo bookstore chain was one of the first Canadian retailers to feature Cake Beauty’s much anticipated holiday collection, Bake me a Cake as Fast as you Can. Very smart.

Lisa Richards of Cake Beauty told me “Cake’s delectable products are sure to leave you and your readers feeling luxuriously pampered all winter and the nourishing ingredients will help banish winter blues”.

This 2006 holiday collection is a limited edition and is sure to be snatched off the shelves quickly.

Frothing Threesome
Three moisturizing bath and shower froths that are infused with Virgin Oil de Cocoa Creme - sure to keep your skin beautifully hydrated, especially during the winter months!
Available in Cake’s signature scents: Desserted Island, It’s a Slice and Creme de la Crème.

Hand Treat Trio
This set keeps hands smooth and moisturized with Milk Made Smoothing Hand and Cuticle Buffer and Milk Made Velveteen Hand Creme. The signature Cake gloves help lock moisture in for smooth, winter-ready hands!
This is something I need. Something I want. I guess I better hurry to get it.

Mint Cashmere Cream Candle
This decadent candle is scented with creamy peppermint and silky chocolate – yummy and is 100% premium soy based. With a cotton and paper fiber woven wick, this candle will provide a clean burn lasting for 60 to 75 hours.

Why soy? Here is a little Lipstick tidbit for you: Soy wax is all-natural and not made from petroleum, like paraffin candles. Burning of soy candles does not increase the CO2 level in the atmosphere. They also last approx 50% longer than paraffin candles. One last benefit from me - scented soy candles distribute more fragrance. The incorporation of soybean oil lowers the melting point of the candle, which translates into cooler burning candles and faster scent dispersion.

Because Cake is so smart, they are also offering all these goodies all wrapped up in a pretty ribbon, The Holiday Tiered Cake.

Now I know you are considering purchasing some of these products - well I hate to scare you but, Cake’s special holiday pricing ends on DECEMBER 15th. So Hurry!
